But even before the opening kickoff, things got chippy between the Tigers in and the Aggies. The tension was high as both teams badly needed a win heading into Saturday's game.

Tempers boiled over during the pregame warmup as several players were involved in an on-field, skirmish with players from both squads pushing and shoving each other. However, cooler heads prevailed as officials from both schools were able to diffuse the situation.

Brian Kelly Praises His Defense

The eighth-ranked LSU Tigers came into this matchup looking to add to what has already been a magical season. Although they are ranked eighth their college football hopes are not completely dashed yet. One of the reasons for the Tigers' magical season is their stout defense. Ahead of their matchup with the Aggies, LSU coach Brian Kelly had high praise for his adolescent, yet hard-nosed defense.

"We've been able to get play from a number of players, including two true freshmen. I don't think you ever go into the season thinking you're gonna get two true freshmen in Ahmad Breaux and Dominick McKinley to play meaningful minutes. The two true freshmen, Gio the transfer from Wisconsin has played well for us, Jay'viar Suggs the transfer from Wisconsin has played well for us," Kelly said.

"This is a collection of guys if you look at it, none of them came with a lot of headlines but all of them are blue collar, tough, hard-nosed, match the kind of identity Bo Davis wanted to coach. Bo's done a really good job of getting everything out of the group in terms of the fundamentals, the toughness, and playing with gap responsibility."
