According to Louisiana State Police, Lacy had been driving a 2023 Dodge Charger on December 17 and had "recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone."

As stated in the court documents, the set of tragic events all started with the 24-year-old LSU player speeding.

"As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound lane pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup truck was a Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento. Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash."

Tragically, the passenger in the Kia Sorrento was former marine, Herman Hall, 78, who passed away after being transported to the hospital.

That is, oddly enough Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on December 19, which was two days after the fatal hit-and-run took place.

As a fifth-year senior for the Tigers, Lacy had 58 catches for 866 yards to go with nine receiving touchdowns (team-best) this season.

Nevertheless, in view of Lacy's NFL career, it may be over before it even started, especially if he is found guilty.

That is before the incident, Lacy had been projected as a third or fourth round NFL draft pick, but now he may not have a chance to go to the league because he could be in jail.
