Miami might not be able to play home games in 2016

Oops?

Uh... oops?

CBS Sports reported on Wednesday that the renovations at Sun Life Stadium — to be named New Miami Stadium upon completion — have slowed to the point where both the Miami Hurricanes and Dolphins may have to consider moving their home games at the beginning of the season.

"We remain in regular contact with the Dolphins organization regarding the status of the stadium renovation project," athletic direction Blake James said in a statement to the Miami Herald.

The Dolphins released their own statement via Twitter.

The Dolphins are scheduled to have a preseason game in the stadium on September 1, with the Canes following up with their season-opener against Florida A&M on September 3. If the stadium is not done on time, both teams will have to play in another venue.

"We still expect to play all of our games at the stadium," said James. "However, we're aware that things could change and if they do we have a contingency plan in place if needed."

Those contingency plans reportedly include the new Citrus Bowl in Orlando, or even the Florida Atlantic stadium in Boca Raton. Of course, moving the games would prove to be quite the expensive pain for both teams.

What a way to welcome Mark Richt to Miami!
