Michigan coach Sherrone Moore fired after 911 caller reports attack, claims months of alleged stalking

A University of Michigan employee called police to report that former Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore was attacking a staff member — and had allegedly been stalking her for months, according to newly released 911 audio.

TMZ obtained the brief clip. Roughly five seconds were redacted to protect the employee's identity, but the caller's message was clear.

"Male at the location is attacking her ... said he's been stalking her for months," the male voice told dispatchers. The call originated from the address of an administrative staffer described as an "executive assistant to the head coach." It's unknown if she was the victim.

Moore, who was earning $6 million per year, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and fired "with cause" less than an hour later. The university cited an "inappropriate" relationship with a staff member. Moore, who is married with three daughters, had been Michigan's head coach for two seasons.

The 39-year-old's dismissal came on the heels of a stunning on-air report from longtime Michigan insider John Bacon, who told local TV that Moore allegedly broke into an employee's home in Pittsfield Township, grabbed a knife, and threatened harm to both the woman and himself.

Moore is being held in the Washtenaw County Jail, where Bacon says he is in protective custody and surrounded by mental health professionals.

Pittsfield police confirmed they began investigating an assault at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, but declined to name Moore. The department said the case does not appear random, and that there's no ongoing threat to the community.

Meanwhile, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that concern had quietly been building inside the football building. Coaches described Moore as "acting strange" in recent weeks, including berating assistants and exhibiting behavior "not normal" for him.

The investigation is ongoing.
