We're just about less than three months away from the college football season, and with that, Vegas oddsmakers start releasing odds for which teams are poised for success for the 2016-17 season. According to recent odds released by South Point, there are multiple instances of teams having the same odds to make it out of each conference. Let's start with the SEC, who according to South Point, has a team with the best chance of winning it all — Alabama is currently sitting at 13/2 (+650) odds to win it all.
While both Alabama and LSU are projected to both have 10 wins, Alabama is poised at 3/2 to make it out of the SEC, with LSU at 7/2 to make it out of the conference. Since these two teams will play each other on Nov. 5, this one will, likely sort itself out. Tennessee, from the East, is listed with 9/2 odds there as well. Unless we have a Tennessee-Alabama SEC Championship that ends with Tennessee upsetting either LSU or Alabama in a close contest, the SEC is very unlikely have two teams in the Final Four, although that scenario has been considered in years past.
In the ACC, which is South Point's second likely conference to make it into the CFP as well as the team with the second best odds to win it all in Clemson (15/2). They are also +140 to win the ACC conference, although other data compiled from the likes of ESPN has Florida State winning that conference. South Point lists the 'Noles at 11/5 for the ACC, but a win total of 9.5 unlike Clemson's 10.5 These two will also play each other on Oct. 29, so depending on how close this game is, it will likely knock one of these teams out. Behind these two teams we have Louisville with 17/2 odds to come out of the ACC.
South Point next lists the Big Ten as the third most likely conference to have a team in the CFP Top 4 — Ohio State and Michigan are currently sitting with the same odds to win it all (8/1) but OSU precedes Michigan better odds to win the Big Ten — the Buckeyes are at 8/5 with Michigan right behind at 9/5. Again — these two teams will play each other during the regular season in November, so like the ACC and SEC Championship games, a lot will depend on the B1G Title game on Championship Saturday. South Point is pretty high on Michigan State, giving them 5/1 odds to win the Big Ten.
The fourth likely conference to earn a CFP bid is the Big 12, as it lists Oklahoma with 11/1 odds to win the National Title. Although this conference, obviously, doesn't have a conference title game, if OU finishes the year either undefeated or with one loss, this could pave the way for the Sooners to easily slide into a bid. South Point puts Oklahoma's win total at 10, which is the highest in the Big 12.
Lastly, the Pac-12 is fifth with odds to make the final four, and South Point lists Stanford as a 20/1 favorite to win the National Title, but South Point gives them 8.5 wins on the season, and gives Chris Peterson's Washington Huskies 9 wins on the year.
