Purdue Boilermakers defensive end Nic Scourton is leaving the program, and he announced on X which schools he'll visit to determine where he'll play in 2024.

Scourton laid it out pretty clearly. From Jan. 3-6, he'll visit Texas A&M, Florida State, Missouri and Oklahoma, respectively.
In 11 games with the Boilermakers, Scourton — who was just a sophomore — had 50 tackles, 10 sacks, three pass deflections and a forced fumble.
He was a four-star recruit coming out of the 2022 class. He's from Bryan High School in Bryan, Texas, and was the No. 46 overall prospect from that state. Further, he was the No. 35 defensive line prospect from Texas and was No. 291 overall.
We often see plenty of big-name players enter the transfer portal with just a year left of eligibility, but a team getting Scourton could get two years of eligibility.
Looking at the programs listed, there are certainly benefits to each:
- Texas A&M: New head coach Mike Elko is looking to put the Aggies back on the map. Also, the program is located quite close to his hometown of Bryan.
- Florida State: It was a tough end of the 2023 season, but the Seminoles will have DJ Uiagalelei under center.
- Missouri: It had a strong season in 2023 with quarterback Brady Cook and running back Cody Schrader.
- Oklahoma: It's joining the Southeastern Conference.
Scourton's 10 sacks were not only impressive in and of themselves, but they also led the Big Ten. In all of college football, he ranked ninth.
The Boilermakers finished the year 4-8 but won their final game of the season at home against Indiana, 35-31.
All four teams that Scourton plans to visit aspire to have national title chances in 2024. Adding him to the depth chart would be a massive haul for any staff, especially Elko, a defensive coach who's the head coach now right in Scourton's backyard.
We'll see what happens after his final visit, to Oklahoma, on Jan. 6.
