Nick Saban says he doesn't want to "waste a failure" after heartbreaking loss in last season's title game

The coach has a pointed message for his team.

Nick Saban is world famous for his grinding style. The legendary head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide notably does not take much time to enjoy his massive successes, instead jumping into recruiting, film study or other productive ventures, even after his team claims the ultimate glory of the college football world.

In 2016, Alabama's season did not end on a very positive note, as the Tide went down at the hands of Deshaun Watson and the Clemson Tigers in the title game. Now, Saban is trying to turn that into a positive and his sentiment was perfectly fitting of his personality.

Alex Scarborough of ESPN brings word from Saban.

"We played against a really, really good team ... and we weren't able to finish the game like we needed to. There were a lot of lessons to learn, and hopefully we won't waste a failure."

The notion of that Saban won't let his team "waste a failure" is perfectly on brand. It makes sense that the Alabama staff would be focusing on shifting that negative energy into hard work in preparation for the 2017 season but the turn of phrase itself is something that very few coaches could pull off in the way that Saban does.

Alabama is going to be very, very good again in 2017 and it is stuff like this that allows Saban to excel at the highest level.
