According to a press release from ESPN, the former Alabama coach-turned-analyst will complete "a hot lap" around the 3.410-mile Circuit of the Americas road course on the outskirts of the city. This is the track that will host Sunday's United States Grand Prix.
The hot lap will take place during the three-hour "College GameDay Built by The Home Depot" on Saturday. The show begins at 9 a.m. ET as ESPN's analysts preview a busy day of college football.
The reason for the F1/"College GameDay Built by The Home Depot" crossover is that Austin will serve as the host city of a massive weekend in sports.
No. 1 Texas will host No. 5 Georgia as the two college football heavy-hitters battle for supremacy. This game will take place Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. It will air on ESPN.
One day later, F1 teams will take part in the United States Grand Prix. This road course race will air on ESPN at 3 p.m. ET.
The weekend in Texas will also feature a special addition to the "College GameDay" set. Fans will have the opportunity to pose for photos with an F1 car featuring a burnt orange wrap. A fitting color for the location.
The crossover will continue with some other interesting activations. Reporter Jess Sims will interview F1 drivers and test their knowledge of American football. Meanwhile, McLaren Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri will throw a football to some Texas Longhorns players.
The Saturday lineup will include multiple guests. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, former Longhorns quarterback Vince Young, Olympic Gold medalist Gabby Thomas, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, and professional golfer Scottie Scheffler will also take part in the program.
GRAMMY-nominated artist Quavo will have a heavy presence on ESPN's coverage. He will take part in garage tours and hot laps at Circuit of the Americas. He will make other appearances across ESPN's programming, including a custom game open for Georgia vs. Texas.
"The US is a nation of sporting fans so we couldn't miss the chance to join forces with the University of Texas and ESPN in Austin," Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer of F1, said in a statement.
"College football has a huge following and Formula 1 is experiencing phenomenal growth too — America represents our largest audience on social platforms, and millions tune in to watch the races. We believe there are even more potential fans out there that we can reach via this Texas Takeover and hope they can join us at the next US race in Las Vegas this November."
