"'Beat Dook' my first words as a boy are my first words on X! Go Heels," the former New England Patriots head coach said.

For those who don't know, Belichick is following in the footsteps of his father, Steve Belichick, who was an assistant coach in Chapel Hill from 1953-1955, when Bill was a baby.

In view of his newfound social media presence, it may benefit North Carolina's recruiting process, as the 29-year NFL head coach will now be able to connect with the youngins.

That is to say, Monday was the first day that college coaches were allowed to visit high schools, and Belichick took full advantage.

Among the recruits that Belichick met with included Zavion Griffin-Hayes, who is the 12th ranked edge rusher (No. 179 overall prospect) in the nation.

"He was telling me stuff coaches never told me," Griffin-Hayes said about meeting the legendary coach. "Showing me stuff about my game, and just telling me stuff about the NFL and the program's come up."

While appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, Belichick talked about being on the recruiting trail, while adding, "We are also officially on Twitter, you can follow me there."

"Welcome to X pal," McAfee responded

Belichick also was asked about the Patriots firing his former player Jerod Mayo after going 4-13 in his first season.

"The Patriots situation, I don't have too much of a comment on that. Robert Kraft, Jonathan Kraft, Robyn Glaser, they're the decision makers there," Belichick said.

Many are curious to see if the eight-time Super Bowl winning coach (6x Patriots head coach; 2x Giants defensive coordinator) will be able to have the same success in the college game, as he did in the pros.

Notably, Belichick is currently the second-most winningest coach in NFL history (333-178).
