According to Scout.com, backup quarterback Ryan Buchanan has quit football in order to focus on new endeavors.
"I came to the conclusion a few months ago that football would not be my future and it was time to start applying myself 100% to my future," Buchanan told Scout. "It's time for me to find my passion beyond football."
Buchanan played sparingly in his time at Ole Miss, only throwing 35 total attempts over two seasons. He said that he considered transferring, but figured that it would be better for his future to focus on his academics.
"Also, my GPA is over 3.0, but I think I can get a 4.0 this semester since I won't be putting in all that time with football and get my overall GPA up."
Buchanan seems to be very mature in his decision-making here, and we wish him the best in his future outside of football. Ole Miss, on the other hand, should be fine with Chad Kelly as starting quarterback.
