The first touchdown between North Carolina and South Carolina in the Duke's Mayo Classic came on a unique play. On UNC's first offensive drive, star-quarterback Drake Maye led the Tar Heels down the field leading to a touchdown from sophomore running back, Omarian Hampton.
While Hampton's score was a simple one-yard run, the touchdown run is impressive because the Gamecocks' defense had 13 players on the field, two more than the allowed amount. Even with a loaded defensive front, South Carolina could not stop Hampton from scoring

The Gamecocks responded on the next drive with a Dakereon Joyner touchdown. Defensively, it would be wise for South Carolina to avoid putting an illegal amount of players on the field for the remainder of the game.
