A moment of confusion during Thursday night's ESPN broadcast quickly turned uncomfortable.

College football analyst Greg McElroy misspoke while calling Ole Miss' 39-34 upset of Georgia, briefly referring to running back Kewan Lacy by the name of Kyren Lacy, a former LSU receiver who died earlier this year.
"Love the way Kyren Lacy runs," McElroy said on the ESPN broadcast before quickly correcting himself. "I mean, Kewan Lacy."
The slip stood out given the circumstances surrounding Kyren Lacy's death. He died April 12 in Houston at age 24 after a car crash while being followed by police. His death was later ruled a suicide.
Kyren's passing came months after he was arrested in connection with a December crash in Louisiana that killed 78-year-old Herman Hall. He had been charged with negligent homicide, felony hit and run with death, and reckless operation of a vehicle. Louisiana State Police later released video footage showing a green Dodge Charger driving at a high rate of speed in the opposing lane before a crash could be heard.
Kyren turned himself in and was released on bond. He died two days before a scheduled grand jury hearing.

McElroy's mistake was unintentional and brief, but it landed awkwardly given how recent and public the tragedy remains.
Meanwhile, Kewan Lacy delivered a performance that helped Ole Miss knock off the third-ranked Bulldogs. The sophomore rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries and has now totaled 1,464 rushing yards and 23 scores this season.
Sixth-ranked Ole Miss will face Miami, ranked 10th, in the College Football Playoff semifinals next Thursday. The winner will advance to the national championship game against the winner of Indiana and Oregon.
