ESPN announced on Tuesday that the former Miami Beach Bowl would be moving to Frisco, Texas after just three years spent in the Miami area.
The game will be owned and operated by ESPN, and it will debut on December 20, 2017 as the new "Frisco Bowl". Currently only the American Athletic Conference is listed as a bowl tie-in for the game.
Frisco, Texas has the 20,000-seat Toyota Stadium that is used for both the Dallas MLS team, as well as the annual FCS championship game. The new location may not have the appeal of "Miami Beach", but they will be playing in a real football stadium as opposed to using the Marlins Park baseball field that was used in the past.
Unfortunately for the Miami Beach Bowl, it's most memorable moment won't be a spectacular play or a shocking upset... but instead a giant fight on the field after the game.
Yeah, rebranding probably isn't a bad idea here.
