With Chad Kelly out for the season, it looks like Hugh Freeze is going to drastic measures to try and save the Rebels' season.
Barrett Sallee of Bleacher Report reported on Friday afternoon that Ole Miss would burn the redshirt of five-star quarterback Shea Patterson, allowing Patterson to play on Saturday against Texas A&M.
Patterson is the No. 4 overall recruit from the 2016 class according to 247Sports, and the burning of the redshirt would seem to indicate that Freeze thinks the freshman is good enough to start immediately.
Obviously this will mean Patterson won't be able to be a fifth-year senior at Ole Miss, but if he's good enough to leave for the NFL at some point, that wasn't going to happen anyways.
