One Playoff contender picked up three commitments on Tuesday

This is a big boost to their recruiting class.

You usually don't see a school pick up three commitments in one day in the middle of the season. Sure, it happens often in the offseason, but getting guys in the regular season ahead of National Signing Day can prove to be huge.

Well, that's what No. 8 Wisconsin got on Tuesday, as they picked up commitments from defensive end Andrew Van Ginkel, running back Jonathan Taylor, and wide receiver Emmet Perry. All three recruits are rated as three-stars by the 247Sports Composite.

While the three aren't major recruits, this is a pretty big victory for Wisconsin. Their 2017 recruiting class is now at a solid 15 commitments, and Van Ginkel and Taylor rank among the top half of those commits. Perry is towards the lower end, but he could provide nice size on the perimeter for the Badgers with a 6-foot-2 frame.

Wisconsin now ranks 36th overall in 247Sports' recruiting rankings.
