The TaxSlayer Bowl is one of the more prominent ones in the college football landscape as it used to be played on New Year's Day and now is the day after and is one of a couple that has that distinction. The only games played after New Year's Day now are playoff games and one or two bowl games that get the rest of the air time.

With the College Football Playoff committee releasing its most recent rankings on Tuesday night, the TaxSlayer Bowl made it quite clear who they're looking at to play in their game.
An SEC team and a Big Ten team has played in the last six iterations of this bowl game so it's likely that's the matchup we'll get. However, the ACC had been in over 20 straight TaxSlayer Bowls before that so that's why it makes sense to list its potential ACC candidates too.
