Colorado's Sanders, Hunter Showed Out in Big 12 Play
Sanders and his squad hosted the Bearcats this weekend in an epic Big 12 showdown.
Shadeur Sanders put on a clinic in the first half, breaking a school record by completing his first 15 passes of the game. The Buffs' QB finished with 25 completions for 323 yards and three touchdowns, including a 4-yard rushing touchdown of his own in the first quarter.
Heisman favorite Travis Hunter had a big night as well with nine catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns.
The win marks Colorado's sixth on the season, which makes the program eligible for a bowl game at the end of the year. This would only be their third since 2007, including the pandemic season of 2020, when the Buffs went to the Alamo Bowl and finished 4-2. It also keeps them in the hunt for the Big 12 Conference championship.
Coach Sanders: "Don't Rank Us, Please"
Coach Deion Sanders seemed unbothered by the possibility of postseason play for his squad. In his postgame presser on Saturday, he said that he's not concerned with the playoffs right now and asserting that voters shouldn't "feel pressure to rank [them]."
"We don't even want to be ranked. Don't rank us, please," he said. "We don't like that. We'd rather be at the back, in the dark, just chilling in the cut. We good, we cool, we straight. So don't feel pressure to rank us."
After a bye the next weekend, Colorado will play Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas, and Oklahoma State to finish the season. Colorado's remaining four opponents all suffered defeats on Saturday. BYU (5-0) and Iowa State (4-0) remain the only teams in the league that have yet to lose a game in Big 12 play.
