Deion Sanders Landed a Top Offensive Lineman in the Transfer Portal

The Colorado Buffaloes have been hard at work in the transfer portal after a 4-8 season under head coach Deion Sanders, and now, they've secured the services of former Indiana Hoosiers offensive tackle Kahlil Benson.

At six-foot-six, 310-pounds, the Buffaloes are hoping that Benson can assist an offensive line that, this past season, allowed quarterback and Coach Prime's son Shedeur Sanders to get sacked close to 50 times. Last season with Indiana, Benson allowed just one sack on 37 pressures across 424 pass-blocking snaps.

In 2022, Benson allowed two sacks and 18 pressures across 401 pass-blocking snaps.

Unfortunately, he missed the 2020 season due to a torn ACL in fall camp.

Benson is native to Southaven, Mississippi, and was a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. In that class, he was the No. 46 offensive guard and No. 23 player in Mississippi per 247Sports.

The Colorado Buffaloes started 2023 off with a bang, rattling off three straight wins against TCU, Nebraska, and Colorado State. From there, their schedule amped up and they won just one of their remaining nine games. Their only win came against Arizona State on the road. Shedeur Sanders missed the final game of the regular season against Utah, dealing with multiple injuries. The most notable of his injuries was a fracture in his back. The amount of times he was hit certainly didn't help and Benson is one cog along the offensive line that will hope to help resolve that issue in 2024.

Benson also has plenty of experience in run blocking. In two seasons with Indiana, he played 597 run-blocking snaps, and per Pro Football Focus, his grades are better in the running game, receiving a 69.7 run-blocking grade.

The Buffaloes will be heading off to the Big Ten for the 2024 season, but it appears
