Deion Sanders Claps Back After Colorado Loses to USC

Colorado and coach Deion Sanders are 0-2 in Pac-12 play after losing at home to USC 48-41 on Saturday. The Buffaloes almost completed a comeback after being down 41-14 in the second half before scoring 20 straight but couldn't recover the onside kick in the final two minutes. It was a high-scoring affair as both defenses couldn't stop the opposing offenses as Colorado's defense gave up almost 500 yards for the second straight week.

Sanders was a little testy in the press conference after the game defending his team and his quarterback and son, Shadeur Sanders.

"The kid can flat-out play," Deion Sanders said of his son. "I know a lot of people doubted him... All of you should just look in the mirror and slap whatever you see."

He went 30 for 45 for 371 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception and ran for 50 yards and one touchdown.

Sanders is unlike most coaches in college football where he will speak his mind and say things that opposing coaches will not. He has attracted many celebrities and former players to visit his program; former Celtics All-Stars Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were at today's game in Boulder. He is new school in the promotion of his program but old school in that he isn't afraid to hold his players accountable.

Colorado has already exceeded the expectations that many had for them this season, but Sanders is calling out those who doubted him and the success he would have at Colorado, even after a loss. He is working to get Colorado back to the program it was in the 1990s but still has improvements to make in year one.

Colorado's next two games are against two of the worst teams in the Pac-12 as they face Arizona State and Stanford, respectively.
