Deion Sanders Receives Rave Reviews From Legendary SEC Coach

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders received rave reviews from Steve Spurrier following his win over TCU in Week 1.

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has caught a lot of flak from old-school college football minds, but former South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier is far from among them. Instead, he had high praise for Coach Prime.

On Wednesday, Spurrier appeared on "The Paul Finebaum Show" and provided his opinion of him.

"I was watching it with my wife, Jerri," Spurrier told Finebaum. "She said, 'Are you pulling for Colorado?' I said, 'You're dang right I'm pulling for them.'"

The praise continued for the new No. 22-ranked team.

"I love Coach [Sonny] Dykes and TCU, and they had a heck of a year last year, but this is historical," Spurrier said of Colorado. "You know a lot of the media, whatever, say [of Sanders], 'Well he's real loud' and this, that and the other. But he's a ball coach, too. He's got his guys prepared, and he's got a good coaching staff.

"His son, Shedeur [Sanders], he is a good player. He throws a catchable ball. That's how he throws for 510 yards, set all kinds of records in his first game ever (in the FBS)."

This week, the Buffaloes will take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who also have a new head coach in Matt Rhule.

While ESPN's "College GameDay" is set to be on site for the Alabama Crimson Tide versus the Texas Longhorns, Spurrier thinks Nebraska versus Colorado is a bigger deal.

"I know a lot of people think Alabama and Texas is big. But, to me, I think Colorado and Nebraska is the biggest game in the nation this week."

As mentioned, the Buffaloes will take on the Cornhuskers this week for their first home game. The Buffaloes are coming off a massive 45-42 win over previously ranked No. 17 TCU.

After their performance in Week 1, it's safe to say we're all fans of Colorado to some extent, and that now includes Coach Spurrier.
