Colorado fans won't see a familiar face under center for the Buffaloes' final game of the season against Utah.
Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who exited the team's last game against Washington State with an injury, was ruled out against the Utes, and his stellar season is officially in the books. Earlier this week, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders said his son was "not feeling well," and it appears his condition didn't improve enough to play.

Even if Sanders did feel good enough to play, he may have decided to sit this one out considering Utah's stout defense. The Utes' 2.82 sacks per game is tied for 20th in FBS, and Colorado's offensive line is by far one of the worst in the country, allowing an NCAA-worst 54 sacks this season. It would be a wise decision, too, considering Sanders could risk seriously injuring himself and jeopardizing next season.
Sanders threw for a school record 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns to just three interceptions in his first season in Boulder. As for his future, Shedeur hasn't made any official announcements for his 2024 plans, but his father has said he's staying at Colorado for another year.
Backup Ryan Staub is on track to start for Colorado at quarterback. He completed five of 14 passes for 56 yards in the Washington State loss.
