Pac-12 head coach "mutually" agrees to leave school following miserable start

He's done.

Oregon State is just 1-5 on the season, and head coach Gary Andersen is officially gone.

"Oregon State University Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced Monday that head coach Gary Andersen and the school have agreed to mutually part, effective immediately.

Oregon State University and Andersen have mutually agreed to release each other from all future contract obligations and payments, which were guaranteed through the 2021 football season."

Andersen took over for Mike Riley as head coach in 2015, leading the Beavers to a 2-10 record. His squad took a step forward in 2016, winning six games, but after just one victory in six games this year it was time to move on.

He previously coached at Southern Utah, Utah State, and had incredible success in two years at Wisconsin, putting together a 9-4 record and a 10-3 campaign before bouncing to the Beavers.

Andersen's departure comes just days after USC stomped out Oregon State, 38-10.
