Two major defenders no longer on the roster for one trendy sleeper team

This isn't what you want to see.

The Oregon State Beavers are building something intriguing in Corvallis under head coach Gary Andersen. For many, the Beavers are a sleeper team in the Pac 12 North heading into this fall, but the latest news out of practice at Oregon State may shed some out doubt as to whether or not that can happen.

According to Oregon State beat writer Gina Mizell, both Isaac Garcia and Ricky Liuchan are no longer on the roster. Perhaps more oddly, there hasn't been a reason given.

Garcia is the far bigger loss, as he was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, but he was never able to put it together at Oregon State. Garcia was a defensive end for the Beavers, but he missed the entire 2016 season for academic reasons.

Liuchan never even stepped on the field for Oregon State.

Andersen didn't speak to reporters Friday afternoon, so perhaps an answer will come next week.
