In an interview with the Clarion-Ledger, Leach basically said the offensive systems in the SEC aren't complex enough.
Leach, who served as the offensive coordinator at Kentucky from 1997-98, has had prolific offenses at Texas Tech and Washington State. His point about SEC offenses is valid to an extent, though it doesn't take into account how great the defensive talent is in the SEC. Leach has also coached in two conferences that aren't known for elite defenses.
It should also be noted that Leach has coached in the Big 12 and Pac 12, and neither conference has won a national title in over a decade. The SEC has eight national championships in that time frame.
