Willie the Wildcat walked up to The Duck as it sat on the sidelines of Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium. The mascot then waved a sign in The Duck's face, which said "Head home." The sign also featured a drawing of Oregon's mascot without its head.

This referenced an infamous incident from earlier in the college football season, one that quickly went viral.

The Oregon mascot ran out of the tunnel at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, on Aug. 30. He did not make it very far before stumbling and falling onto the turf. The Duck literally lost his head before jumping up and running back into the tunnel. A member of the support staff rushed to the scene, grabbed The Duck's head and raced back into the tunnel.

This incident did little to slow down the football team as it defeated Montana State 59-13 in the home opener. Although it did set up another surprising moment for the mascot the following week.

The Duck waddled out of the tunnel on Sept. 7 as Oregon faced off with Oklahoma State. This time, the mascot wore a Labubu doll costume, complete with sharp teeth. Oregon went on to win 69-3.

The Duck is no stranger to the spotlight considering its penchant for doing push-ups and wearing outlandish costumes. Each time the mascot goes viral, the team tends to deliver a winning performance on the gridiron.

Saturday's win over the Wildcats continued this trend, and it featured The Duck making the rounds on social media for multiple reasons. The headless picture on the sign served as one reason. The Duck choosing to sit on the sidelines reading the adult fantasy romance novel, "Fourth Wing."
