Oregon Steals Top Transfer From Deion Sanders a Week After Commitment

Last Tuesday, the Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders thought they were bringing in former Indiana Hoosiers offensive tackle Matthew Bedford from the transfer portal. But now, he's had a change of heart and is headed to Oregon, the team that handed the Buffaloes their first loss of the 2023 season.

Now, they deliver the Buffaloes' first loss of 2024, but this time in the form of a transfer portal recruit.

On Monday, Bedford took to social media with the announcement.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to the University of Colorado and their amazing coach, coaching staff, and community for their support and belief in me. The Colorado organization is so amazing that I made a decision too hastily before weighing all of my options," he stated.

"However, upon reflection, I believe that the University of Oregon aligns perfectly with my long-term goals and I am thrilled to join the Oregon Ducks and contribute my best on and off the football field," Bedford added.

"I'm immensely thankful for everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. The encouragement I've received has been a driving force, and I'm excited about the new chapter ahead."

Bedford had been with the Hoosiers since 2019. In that time, he's played 1,573 pass-blocking snaps and added 1,146 more in the rushing attack. He's started 38 of his 41 games played, and 2023 was his first time back after a season-ending knee injury in the opener of the 2022 campaign.

At 6-foot-6 and 314 pounds, Bedford has been a steady right guard who'll now assist with the Oregon offense in 2024.

The Buffaloes still have several offensive linemen joining the program; but after coach Sanders' son, Shedeur Sanders, was sacked in the 50-times range, losing anyone at this point in the process hurts.
