Former UCLA quarterback and head coach Rick Neuheisel might not be done with coaching after all.
Neuheisel has been working with CBS in recent years, but on Wednesday, Neuheisel claimed that he would "absolutely entertain" the open Oregon State head coaching job if they were to contact him.
"I'm not going to pursue it," Neuheisel told ESPN. "If they reached out to me and thought I might be a fit, I would absolutely entertain a conversation. But those sort of searches, they have guys in mind. They have ideas to where they're going.
Neuheisel indicated in the same interview that he might be willing to entertain more than just the Oregon State job:
"I've made up my mind that if someone thinks I'm the right fit for a particular situation, I would absolutely entertain and listen to it."
While it has been a while since Neuheisel has coach, he would be an intriguing fit for Oregon State. Neuheisel sounds like he has some interest in the job, and it would be great for Oregon State to be able to get a coach with some name value. Despite a long career as a coach, Neuheisel is still only 56 and would have plenty of time to build a program if he wanted.
Neuheisel has not been a head coach ever since he was fired by UCLA back in 2011. Neuheisel also also coached with Colorado, Washington, and the Baltimore Ravens. He has a career record of 87-59 as a head coach.
