Heisman finalist has made a surprising decision on his NFL Draft status

Given the options, this is stunning.

In what will be argued is a shocking decision, Stanford Cardinal running back Bryce Love will return to school for his senior season.

Love's father confirmed to the San Francisco Chronicle in a text early Tuesday morning that his son will be returning to Stanford for one more go in college.

Monday evening was the deadline for players to enter their names in the NFL Draft. By the announcement coming so late in the process, it is clear that the decision was one Love battled with.

Love was second in the nation in rushing with 2,118 yards and tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns with 19. For those bad at math, those are considered good numbers. He finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting behind winner Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma.

By returning, it is likely that the dynamic back will be the favorite to win the Heisman next season. Then again, as we often see season over season, the player entering the season with the most hype does tend to not get the benefit of the doubt some under-the-radar guys receive.

Nevertheless, this is a big deal for Stanford, as Love is one of the best college football players in the nation.
