Caleb Williams’ Penthouse Stirs Controversy Over Reggie Bush’s Heisman

College football has had an interesting last two decades or so, progressing from players being unable to accept anything monetarily from any source to now — as we can see from USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams — a penthouse from NIL (name/image/likeness) money.

As you can see in the tweet above, Williams sits at what is likely a kitchen island with a beautiful cotton candy sunset. Not so long ago, former USC running back Reggie Bush was stripped of his Heisman for receiving much less.

As one user put it, "Reggie bush getting his heisman taken away for getting a car and $1k but Caleb Williams is living in a pent house at usc is wild lmao."

Bush won the Heisman in 2005, but was stripped of that in 2010 along with several USC bowl wins. Among the "gifts" Bush received was a limo ride to the Heisman ceremony. Today, Williams appears in Wendy's commercials.

Still, though, we have to be fair in that times were simply different.

Could the NCAA retroactively get Bush's Heisman Trophy reinstated?

Of course it could.

Most of the replies on the picture of Williams' penthouse involve Bush.

"After seeing this, I demand Reggie Bush gets his Heisman trophy back. My oh my," another user wrote.

"Reggie Bush played when the NCAA still pretended to be amateur college athletics," someone else said. "Caleb Williams is a player in the Junior NFL which happens to use the IP and branding of colleges."

Others spoke out against NIL rules altogether.

"All the rules are so blurred now and have honestly ruined college sports," someone wrote. "Companies should be banned from using the NIL of any college kid and we wouldn't be in this stupid situation."

"Reggie Bush would've been living like Bruce Wayne if he played in this era of college football," someone else said.

Regardless, it's going to be interesting to explain these two "eras" of college football to someone in 10 years as they first start watching the sport.
