A lot of people don't like politics in their sports, but Paul Finebaum just gave a comparison that was so accurate that it has to be mentioned.
The venerable SEC radio host brought up Jim Harbaugh on his show on Thursday, and discussed Harbaugh's current public relations battle with the SEC. Harbaugh keeps irking the SEC, and it gets more noticeable with each time it happens. However, Finebaum believes that the reaction that Harbaugh keeps getting is comparable to one politician: Donald Trump.
"But for whatever reason, the SEC coaches will not learn, they keep reacting to this guy! It's like Rubio and Kasich and Bush all reacting to Donald Trump, that's what he wants! And the Donald Trump of college football, Jim Harbaugh, wants Greg Sankey and he wants Hugh Freeze and Butch Jones and Gus Malzahn and Bert Bielema to all get their panties in a wad and make [Harbaugh] an even bigger story."
Whether or not you support Donald Trump or are a fan of Jim Harbaugh, Finebaum is right in this scenario. Both the candidate and the coach are people who are very savvy with their public image, and while people might not like what they do, it put their name out in the media and they get people talking about them.
