Plaxico Burress' Son Is Joining a Top College Football Program

Former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress will watch his son, Elijah, head off to Notre Dame as a member of the 2025 recruiting class.

Elijah is a three-star prospect and is considered the No. 36 overall wide receiver in the class and the top 11 from New Jersey.

He has played for DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, New Jersey, where he caught 25 passes for 434 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games as a junior.

According to 247Sports, the Fighting Irish have the top recruiting class in 2025, with notable players including Ivan Taylor, James Flanigan, Deuce Knight, Owen Strebig and more. They have six four-star recruits as of now.

Additionally, Notre Dame has the No. 9-ranked recruiting class for 2024.

Plaxico Burress played college ball at Michigan State for Nick Saban from 1996 to 1999. He was then drafted No. 8 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played five years there before bursting more onto the scene with the New York Giants from 2005 to 2008, including a Super Bowl win. But he was out of the league from then until 2011 due to a gun-related charge.

He then finished his career with the New York Jets and later the Steelers again in 2012.

Burress, 46, finished his career with 553 catches, 8,499 yards and 64 touchdowns.

Arguably his best season came in 2007 with the Giants, where he had 70 receptions on 141 targets for 1,025 yards and 12 scores. It was during that season that New York won the Super Bowl. However, Burress also had a great year with the Steelers in 2002, getting 78 receptions for 1,325 yards and seven scores.

Now, Burress will watch as his son heads to Notre Dame. Their quarterback this past season was Sam Hartman, but he's headed to the NFL. It'll be intriguing to see who will be under center for the Fighting Irish when Elijah arrives in 2025.
