College Football Playoff chairman Kirby Hocutt has had a rough week. He was essentially the scapegoat for everyone's frustration with the CFP Rankings and had to explain why the committee went with two Big Ten teams and Clemson at No. 4 despite a bad loss to Pittsburgh at home.

However, the committee did have trouble making their picks as Hocutt said on ESPN's "Russillo & Kanell" yesterday. He said there were six teams seriously competing for four spots with Alabama and Ohio State as the only obvious two choices. Here were the six teams:
- Alabama
- Ohio State
- Michigan
- Clemson
- Louisville
- Washington

Should more losses be coming though then the committee will find itself in a bit of a pickle with several more teams in contention for the top four spots. Wisconsin, Penn State, Oklahoma and West Virginia could be the next round of contenders should the college football landscape see another shakeup.
