The No. 9 Tigers fell 13-7 in Athens to an unranked Georgia team on Saturday in what will surely end Auburn's hopes at getting into the College Football Playoff. Without running back Kamryn Pettway — the SEC's leading rusher — Auburn couldn't get any consistency on offense. While the Georgia offense wasn't much better for most of the game, they were able to control the clock and limit Auburn even more.

The win is a big feather in Kirby Smart's cap, as it almost looked like the season was going sideways with a 4-4 start to the season. The Bulldogs are now bowl eligible at 6-4, and they will play UL-Lafayette next ahead of their annual rivalry game against Georgia Tech.

Auburn will play Alabama A&M next week before they play No. 1 Alabama in the Iron Bowl. Unfortunately for the Tigers, it looks like that game won't have the implications that we thought it would have a few weeks ago.
