One school closing in on No. 1 recruiting ranking after third commitment in two days

Will they take the top spot soon?

We might have a new No. 1 team in the recruiting rankings soon.

On Tuesday, three-star offensive tackle Cole Mabry (6-foot-6, 265 pounds, Brentwood, Tenn.) announced his commitment to Notre Dame after receiving an offer from the Fighting Irish just a few days ago.

While the commitment might not seem big by itself, Notre Dame has now added three recruits over the past two days, including four-stars Derrik Allen and Kalon Gervin. The additions are thanks to Notre Dame holding their Junior Day last weekend, and they are key as Notre Dame is closing in on Penn State's No. 1 recruiting ranking over at 247Sports.

As of right now, those two are followed in the rankings by Miami, Florida State, and USC.

The Fighting Irish now have nine commitments for their 2018 class.
