It took just four weeks for Blake Barnett to go from opening-day starter to gone from the Alabama program.

AL.com reported on Wednesday that the redshirt freshman will be leaving the program. Barnett started Alabama's game against USC, but he was quickly pulled in favor of true freshman Jalen Hurts. Hurts has taken over as the starter since then, and it looks like Barnett has seen the writing on the wall about the future of that position at Alabama.
Barnett played in three games for the Tide, throwing for 219 yards and two touchdowns. Barnett is a former five-star recruit of the 2015 class that originally picked Alabama over Oregon, UCLA, and USC, among others. The early thought is that the California-native could transfer back to the west coast.
With Barnett gone, Cooper Bateman will be Alabama's backup quarterback.
