Report: Baylor has finally named a new head coach

Baylor was 6-6 this season after firing Art Briles.

According to multiple reports, Baylor has finally hired a new head coach as they are expected to name Temple coach Matt Rhule to the position.

Rhule has been Temple's coach for the past four seasons, and he has put together back-to-back 10-win seasons for the Owls. Temple got to 10 wins on Saturday, where they defeated Navy to win the American Athletic Conference Championship Game. Temple will now head to the Military Bowl to take on Wake Forest.

Baylor is heading to the Cactus Bowl on Dec. 27 to take on Boise State, and it is unclear if Rhule or interim head coach Jim Grobe will coach that game.

Rhule is a fantastic hire for Baylor, as it appears that the Bears' options were getting thin after SMU coach Chad Morris reportedly turned them down. Rhule will need to get to work as soon as possible, as a lot of recruit have been waiting on who the Bears would name as a head coach. Baylor currently only has one commitment for the entire 2017 class.

The Baylor job is obviously a big rebuild, as the program is reeling from public outcry over the massive sexual assault scandal that involved several football players. Former head coach Art Briles was fired for the scandal back in May of this year.
