Report: Only one roadblock could be keeping Jimbo Fisher from LSU

LSU fired Les Miles back in September.

If LSU isn't able to lure Jimbo Fisher away from Florida State, it appears that there would have been only one thing keeping them from doing that.

According to a report from Louisiana journalist Glenn Guilbeau, LSU is prepared to offer Fisher in excess of $6 million per year, in addition to agreeing to buyout the rest of Fisher's contract with Florida State. However, there still are concerns that Fisher's demands — through his agent Jimmy Sexton — could prove to be too expensive for the Tigers.

LSU, through the TAF (Tiger Athletic Foundation) and major donors, is prepared to pay Fisher $6 million or more as he makes $5.2 million at Florida State as well as pay his $5 million buyout to Florida State, but there are other demands being bantered about, such as a lucrative housing allowance as there is no state income tax in Florida as there is in Louisiana.

"Everyone wants Jimbo," a TAF member said. "I just hope Jimmy Sexton doesn't price us out of it."

Even as a high-profile football school, LSU doesn't have an unlimited budget to just throw everything at Fisher in hopes of luring him away from the Seminoles. While LSU might have a shot at landing the champion head coach, it appears that there is a very tangible price point that the Tigers may not be able to cross.
