Ole Miss and Mississippi State don't like each other. That isn't really up for debate, as the two long-time rivals battle for state supremacy on an ongoing basis. With that said , the Ole Miss investigation continues to uncover more and more details from various reporting and the latest tidbit is particularly noteworthy when it comes to the Bulldogs.
Neal McCready of Rebel Grove shed light on an intriguing nugget that has to do with Mississippi State, saying that Ole Miss recorded the mother of a now-Mississippi State play, Leo Lewis, requesting extra benefits. The twist? They used it to attempt to implicate their arch rival.
Ole Miss, per multiple sources, possesses a recording, and has given the SEC a copy, of (Leo) Lewis' mother asking Ole Miss for money and detailing incentives she received from other programs, including Mississippi State.
This is a bold strategy, especially because the same report indicates that Lewis is the player in question when it comes to an Ole Miss booster ponying up between $13,000 and $15,600 for a prospect that (still) signed elsewhere. For Lewis's reaction, we take to Twitter.
