Report: Oregon hires former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke

According to multiple media reports, Oregon has hired former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke as their new defensive coordinator.

Hoke has been out of a job for a year after being fired from Michigan, but he had been in the conversation for several head coaching jobs during December. After striking out on all of those, Hoke started looking for defensive coordinator spots and it looks like he found one with Oregon.

This is actually a good hire by the Ducks. Hoke may have had poor times at Michigan, but his defenses will still good in his tenure and he really knows that side of the football. On the other hand, Oregon had one of the worst defenses in the FBS in 2015, allowing nearly 40 points per game and ranking No. 116 in scoring defense. Sure, they play up tempo, but they weren't playing so up tempo that a defensive performance like that is acceptable.
