College football player dies just two days after suffering horrible injury in game

This is truly terrible.

Division-II college football player Robert Grays has sadly passed away after sustaining a neck injury during his last game against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The university announced on Wednesday that Grays passed away the before. They released this statement via Twitter:

Interim athletic director Kyle Williams also had this to say about Grays, via The Wichitan.

"He's made this tackle hundreds of times, but it was just one of those situations that landed wrong. It was traumatic for all of us, particularly the football players. As a campus, we are thinking about him every day."

He suffered the injury while trying to make a tackle on a Kingsville player. The injury occurred with a little over three minutes left in the game and the cornerback had to be taken off the field in an ambulance. Here was the scene immediately after the tackle:

Grays had a lot of tributes sent out on Twitter and elsewhere after news broke he had passed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and schoolmates at this time.
