Some football players are unable to finish their careers because of various issues like academics, team rules violations, injuries or even participating in illegal activities. However, there's the rare instance that something worse than an injury occurs and that is looking like the case for walk-on long snapper Ryan Parris.
Parris is fighting a rare parasitic amoeba in his left eye according to AL.com's Joseph Goodman. Parris took part in two special teams plays during the A-Day game. His vision is so bad in his eye that he is considered legally blind in his left eye and he couldn't read the first letter on the eye chart.
The 6'0", 209-pounder had a feeling something was wrong in November when he went to see some friends tailgating after the LSU game and they all said that his eye looked terrible. Parris wasn't a lock to make the team this fall, but he's still pretty well all things considered.
