Bama picks up RB commitment from rival coach's alma mater

The other SEC coaches won't like this one that much.

Usually when a college coach has a top recruit coming from his high school alma mater that gives him an advantage over other coaches. It's basically a pipeline unless you're recruiting against Nick Saban and Alabama.

Four-star and No. 7 running back in the class of 2018 Dameon Pierce committed to the Crimson Tide despite going to the same high school as Georgia coach Kirby Smart. He explained why he chose the Tide though over Smart and the Bainbridge High School (Georgia) connection.

"Nick Saban told me that he's glad to have me and Alabama is a hard-working program," Pierce told SEC Country. "He said I am going to be a great fit and asset for his program."

The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder has already scored 45 career touchdowns and has either set or tied 14 school records, including five all-time records. Last season at Bainbridge, Pierce ran for 2,060 yards, averaged 6.7 yards per carry and scored 34 touchdowns. He was clocked at 11.2 in the 100-meter dash this spring and has mid 4.5 40-yard dash speed.
