For today's Bama's Best Throwback Thursday we are going back in Alabama history to take a look at one of the most important moments in Alabama football history. The year is 1979, it's the Sugar Bowl, it's number 1 undefeated Penn State coached by Joe Paterno against number 2 Alabama coached by Bear Bryant. Two legendary programs and two legendary coaches gave us one heck of a legendary moment in Alabama history.

Alabama was leading 14-7 with time ticking down in the fourth quarter.  After an Alabama fumble Penn State had the ball first and goal and it was up to the Alabama defense to preserve the lead and take Alabama to their eleventh national championship, the sixth under Bear Bryant.
