Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin is one of the top coaching options currently on the market, and that could be a huge distraction as the Tide prepares for another College football Playoff run. Whether it's LSU's offensive coordinator gig, Houston's head coaching gig or a previously unmentioned coaching job, Kiffin should be at the top of the list.

After Saturday night's beatdown of Florida, Nick Saban talked Kiffin rumors and mentioned his want for the current offensive coordinator to get a head coaching job. He then discussed "the rest of it," and not thinking it's the "right time" to fully discuss.
Yahoo's Pat Forde then inferred from that if "the rest of that" could be Kiffin's interest in LSU:
Inferring from that, "the rest of it" sounds like the reported possibility of a lateral move to division rival LSU. If Kiffin isn't hired at Houston or anywhere else as a head coach and he wants to go to Baton Rouge to call plays for Ed Orgeron, that might spur Saban to tell Lane to go ahead and leave now and they'll try to win another title without him.
It would be a stunning move for the defending national champions to move forward without Kiffin. They certainly have Steve Sarkisian, who has been with the program for much of the year.
But if Kiffin is serious about jumping across enemy lines, just how serious will Saban be about kicking him out of town?
Saban did say we'd discuss in the next couple of weeks, so it doesn't appear anything is imminent.Coaching moves can happen quickly, and if Kiffin does follow through with an interview at Houston, we should find out sooner rather than later.
