Alabama Swipes 5-Star Transfer From Texas A&M

Despite a new regime coming into Texas A&M headed up by coach Mike Elko, the team is losing defensive lineman LT Overton to its Southeastern Conference rival: the Alabama Crimson Tide.

According to 247Sports, Overton is the No. 2 defense lineman prospect in its transfer portal rankings. He'll now be coached by Nick Saban and position coach Freddie Roach.

In addition to Alabama, Overton considered South Carolina and Florida State.

Over the weekend, Overton visited Tuscaloosa. At Alabama, his father and mother both used to work in the school's athletic department.

"Really just liked the connection I had going there," Overton told 247Sports. Overton initially went to the Aggies and developed a connection with Terry Price, his position coach. Sadly, Price passed away in June.

"Felt like I was being recruited by TP all over again," Overton said. "Just being around the players and me being familiar with the area felt like a second home to me."

In addition to being the No. 2 defensive line prospect in the transfer portal, he is also ranked as the No. 16 player overall, according to 247Sports.

"When I went there, just seeing talent after talent especially on the offensive side, I know I'm going to get great competition there and be developed," Overton said. "That's what I'm really looking for."

During his visit, Overton met with Saban, of course.

"He said if I was to come there, just be ready to work," Overton said. "I feel like I can make an impact but be ready to work and earn a spot."

In 2023, Overton — whose first name is Lebbeus — played a total of 220 snaps. He had three pressures and zero sacks.

The Crimson Tide are currently looking forward to their matchup against Michigan in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
