Nation's top recruit not taking any more visits this summer could help Bama down the road

Alabama fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Najee Harris is the nation's top running back and its top recruit in the class of 2017. He's visited plenty of other schools despite being committed to Alabama, but it seems there aren't any more visits in the near future for Harris and that should bode well for the Crimson Tide.

"I've been away from my team for so long so I don't think I'm going to be doing too much stuff," Harris said. "I want to spend time with my team because it's a new team. I've been gone a lot, so I want to get to know them before we play."

It looks like the young man's unselfishness could be just what Alabama needed to secure his commitment down the road. Harris has visited Ohio State, Southern California, UCLA and Washington since committing more than a year ago, and he has said that the visits to other schools won't stop.

"Can I enjoy my recruiting process?" Harris rhetorically asked. "That's the only thing I can say. I am just trying to enjoy this because you're going to wake up the next day and be back to the grind."

The 6'3", 226-pound running back has spent the last week at The Opening in Oregon —- at the headquarters of Nike —- and has gotten close to other Bama commits like quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, 5-star offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood and 4-star linebacker VanDarius Cowan.

Hopefully those connections pay off before National Signing Day in February for the Crimson Tide as landing all four of these guys would make for a pretty strong recruiting class.
