Raekwon Davis reportedly suffered a gunshot wound early on Sunday morning in Tuscaloosa and the talented Alabama defensive tackle is recovering as a result. While it appears that Davis avoided serious damage, there has been quite a bit of scrutiny placed on the incident and that is the nature of the beast when dealing with a projected starter for the Crimson Tide as well as a potential shooting.

With that in mind, head coach Nick Saban was prompted about Davis' injury and future ramifications on Monday and he said the following to the media (via AL.com):
"What his status is moving forward will be a medical decision, not something we can really comment on here."
"We're still gathering information. It doesn't seem like our players were guilty of anything other than being out late, which doesn't make me happy. But it is what it is. He is released from the hospital. He's here (and) he's getting treatment."
The 6-foot-7, 306-pound defensive tackle is widely expected to be a starter for the Alabama defensive line this season, though it remains to be seen just how long he'll be unavailable on the heels of the incident. Saban's answer does not provide a ton of useful information on Davis' recovery but, in the same breath, the overall sentiment is positive and it will be an interesting situation to monitor in the coming days.
Stay tuned.
