SEC pundit Paul Finebaum made his stance clear on Da'Shawn Hand's DUI arrest and he thought coach Nick Saban was soft by not handing out a real punishment. He reiterated his stance on WJOX 94.5 FM show The Opening Drive and even went so far as to say Saban's arrogance cost his team a title game:

"No one on this program is saying that Nick Saban isn't the best in the country but he has made mistakes, he blew a national championship last year because of his arrogance, he's not always right. On this case, I think the appropriate response was, or should have been, that Hand should have been suspended indefinitely and I don't think there's any gray area."
Finebaum didn't explicitly give any examples of Saban's arrogance, but he might be referring to the circus that hovered around the team after parting ways with Lane Kiffin before the championship game. While it was a "mutual" agreement for both parties it caused more of a headache for the Crimson Tide than it did Kiffin.
I would also argue that Clemson scoring a touchdown with almost no time on the clock had anything to do with arrogance from the coach as his offense still scored over 30 points despite only having Steve Sarkisian running it for about two weeks of preparation. If anything, it was the defense that cost the team the game and Deshaun Watson's clutch gene.
