Report: Five-star cornerback has been missing from Alabama practice

Fun fact: you don't move up the depth chart if you don't practice.

UPDATES: Touchdown Alabama's Stephen M. Smith is reporting that Kendall Sheffield is actually transferring out of Alabama. The Texas native was ranked the No. 4 CB and No. 20 player in the 2015 class by 247Sports' Composite Rankings. He was entering his redshirt freshman season.

Usually the way to get starter reps in a game is to go through practices and prove your worth to the staff. Well, one former five-star cornerback might have different ideas in Tuscaloosa. Kendall Sheffield was set to play a bigger role for the Crimson Tide defense this year and really just had to show up to practice and be in shape.

According to a report from AL.com, Sheffield has missed practice the past couple days:

Former five-star cornerback Kendall Sheffield was not spotted for a second straight practice Monday evening. The Missouri City, Texas product did not see action in his true freshman season last fall but drew strong reviews from upperclassmen like Cyrus Jones.

The reasons for Sheffield missing practice are still unclear.
