Alabama suffers devastating injury during SEC Championship game

They can't afford to lose him.

Alabama appears to be right on track for yet another College Football Playoff berth, but an injury to its second leading tackler could be devastating to the Tide.

Shaun Dion Hamilton, the team's junior linebacker, suffered a non-contact apparent knee injury toward the end of the first half.

He had to be helped off the field to the locker room and did not appear to be putting any weight on his leg.

Hamilton had 63 tackles and one interception heading into Saturday's game. He had registered an interception in the SEC title game.

Here's what head coach Nick Saban had to say about the injury coming out of the locker room:

We'll continue to track this injury.
